There's an old saying in the world of investing: "Past performance is not indicative of future results". True, but what if we could take that past performance, combine it with a deep understanding of investor preferences, and use it to predict future investing patterns? At DeckMatch, we've done just that.

Just like Marc Andreessen once painted the software industry with the mantra "software is eating the world", DeckMatch is consuming, analyzing, and making sense of a vast array of data to provide a one-of-a-kind service to investors. Our philosophy? Data is eating the investment world.

Our approach centers on a tool we call the Mosaic Generator. In the art world, a mosaic is an assembly of small pieces, each insignificant on its own, but together forming a beautiful image. Likewise, our Mosaic Generator gathers and analyzes countless data points from an investor's history, from industry preference and investment stage to geographic location and portfolio performance.

We've developed some proprietary technology that searches the vast expanses of the public domain, from the deepest corners of web databases to the most obscure articles and webpages. Our technology doesn't just scrape the web - it dives in, retrieves the precious pearls of data, and then surfaces, leaving no stone unturned.

But raw data, like a rough diamond, needs to be polished. That's why our technology doesn't just gather data - it also structures it. Using advanced algorithms, we organize the data, giving it form and making it usable. This is no small feat given the diverse and extensive nature of the data we deal with. However, our technology is up to the task, and what emerges is a structured, digestible data set, ready to be analyzed and understood.

This, in essence, is the cornerstone of our Mosaic Generator. With the data polished and organized, we can now begin the process of creating our investment mosaics.

Each mosaic is a beautiful assembly of data points, like tiles in an art piece, depicting the unique investment preferences and history of an investor. For instance, consider the case of Investinor, Norway's quasi-sovereign fund. We've been able to track their shift from industrial sectors to the emerging tech scene, as well as their focus on late-stage startups. This mosaic of their investment behavior paints a vivid picture, ready for analysis and interpretation.

An excellent example of this is Investinor, Norway's quasi-sovereign venture fund. By analyzing their investment history, we've seen a clear shift from traditional industrial sectors to the burgeoning tech scene. We've also noticed a focus on later-stage startups, from late seed to series B, while still maintaining a presence in pre-seed and seed stages through fund investments.

But why is this useful? Because each mosaic provides a baseline understanding of an investor's history and preferences. It's about learning what they've done, which gives us insight into what they might do. The mosaic is half the picture.

Now, let's add some color to this mosaic. Here's a  visual story that paints this picture beautifully.

However, investing isn't just about numbers and trends; it's also about the subtle, qualitative aspects, the details that can't be easily quantified. Founder dynamics, team composition, speed of iteration, past failures – these are the factors that make each startup unique.

That's where our machine learning model and our trusty DeckBot come into play. As part of the onboarding process, DeckBot has a conversation with the investor. This isn't your typical chatbot interaction; it's a detailed discussion about what the investor looks for in a startup, their preferences, and the nuances of their investing philosophy.

It's this blend of quantitative data and qualitative insights that allows DeckMatch to create a comprehensive picture of each investor. The result is an onboarding experience that's not just efficient but also personalized and, dare we say, delightful.

At DeckMatch, we understand that every investor is unique, just like every startup is unique. That's why we're committed to crafting these beautiful mosaics, providing an unparalleled service to our investors, and paving the way for a new era in startup investing. With DeckMatch, we're not just predicting the future. We're helping to shape it.
